Medicine Use Review Royal Docks Pharmacy allows any patient* registered within our pharmacy the opportunity to discuss their medicines and any other concerns with our pharmacist.
An MUR increases the interaction between the patient and their pharmacist to increase understanding of the patients medicine, increase adherance to their prescribed dosages and resolve any pharmaceutical related issues.
This service is newly incentivised and bridges the gap between patients and their local NHS.
An MUR service does not replace the role of your local GP but extends the information gateways easily accessible to patients.
Patients who would benifit from an MUR
- Patients on a lot of medication
- Patients who lack understanding of what their medication is for
- Patients not taking their medication correctly
- Patients who may benifit from simple alterations such as larger labels for the hard of sight, bottles without child proofing for dexterity issues...
The main features of an MUR are:
- Medicine review, pointing out dual therapies, medicinal interactions and possible side effects.
- Ensuring the patient knows what time of day is best to take their medicine, as well as other medicinal products to avoid.
- Identify any problems with medications, such as difficulty in swallowing tablets or pallatability of liquid products.
- Ensure the patient understands the reason and need for their medication, enabaling empowerment and increasing patient knowledge.
An MUR is a personalised service, and is available free of charge and with no appointment necessary to provide the perfect opportunity to find answers to those questions you always wanted to ask.
*Patients must be registered at the same pharmacy for 3 or more months & no more than one MUR can be provided annually
